Call from Mr. Dinçkök to the textile manufacturers, to unite in solidarity against China
Ömer Dinçkök, the Chairman Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayi A.Ş, in his lecture addressing the textile manufacturers from all regions of Turkey, called their attention to local and foreign threats on the economy of the country. Mr. Dinçkök, referring to the approaching Chinese threat, stated the necessity for the textile sector to unite in solidarity.
The special meeting called “The Reunion”, organized by Aksa on 16 April, 2004 at the Swissotel the Bosporus Istanbul, which united the customers of Aksa from all regions of Turkey, was inaugurated with the opening speech of Ömer Dinçkök, who underscored that, last year, 53 billion US dollars of foreign investment was extended to China and emphasized that “China has emerged from the lamp (Aladdin’s) and its return back to the lamp is impossible”. Mr. Dinçkök, underlined the necessity to compete with China in terms of final manufactured goods, the end products; and that successful results can nonetheless be obtained if competition should not only be limited to the acrylic fiber, thread and the next stage but should cover all the stages of the manufactured products. He underlined the fact that the manufacturers in Turkey are much more advantageous in regard to their localizations being closer to the Middle East and to western countries.
Mr. Dinçkök, stating that the second greatest acrylic fiber production, after China, has been realized by Turkey, declared that, they have initiated this synergy, just 35 years ago altogether in unity with the customers, and Aksa starting with a capacity of 5 thousand 500 tons of annual production in 1972, has reached up to today’s production capacity of 260 thousand tons/annual. Ömer Dinçkök, underlined the success of the altogether collaborated growth strategy and in compliance with the changing conditions and considering the China factor, in order to provide the sustainability of this growth strategy, the competition environment should be improved.
Mr. Dinçkök, stressing upon the 37 percent increase of the domestic and foreign stock of loans, indicated that the indebtness of social security has also gradually risen. Mr. Dinçkök said that the 2003 indicators of the Turkish economy has been encouraging, but for the investment ventures to grow up the continuation of the secure and stable economic environment was essential.
During the reunion meeting, all the participants have found the opportunity to come together with the prominent members of the sector, who at the same time are their competitors and enjoyed a concert by the famous Turkish singer, Muazzez Ersoy. |
